Description

The Community School Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for the implementation, integration, alignment, and coordination of the community school strategy at the site level. The CSC is responsible for facilitating the process of transforming the school into a full-service community school. CSC works in partnership with the school administrator and the Site Based Leadership Team to assess the school community's needs and assets; coordinates all student and family support services, and creates a learning environment in partnership with the school administration that supports student achievement and wellness. The Community School Coordinator must work to create a high-performing Community School partnership wherein students and families are supported, community members are connected, and successful outcomes emerge.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Implement a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services in adherence with the community school model, including but not limited to expanded learning and enrichment opportunities, parent/family engagement, nutrition services, direct material assistance, and interventions;Develops relevant measures required for federal, state, and district reporting;Advise the school administration on how to integrate partners and community members into the school governance structure (i.e., School Leadership, School Safety Committee, and Attendance teams);Work with the school administration to integrate non-instructional priorities and related support;Act as a point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school and help broker new partnerships that are aligned with school goals and needs, including but not limited to, nutrition services, health service providers, housing assistance programs, community trainers, and academic enrichment and preparedness programs.Support the research/evaluation of the community school by supervising and coordinating the collection of data, timely submission of reports and responses to other requests for information made by the initiative's leadership;Effectively and professionally communicate through small and large presentations to groups within the school community and school system's community;Independently answer routine questions and correspondence from parents, staff, students, and the community not requiring the principal or supervisor's attention;Supervise all program partners providing out-of-school time services at the community school;Organize and oversee a community resource and needs assessment process;Seek input from teachers, school staff, parents, and students on a regular basis to determine the ongoing needs of students and families, through the mechanisms of the School Site Council, ELAC, Town Halls, and Workshops.Coordinate city, county, The Foundation for Hispanic Education, and community-based organization services at the school site;Assists in outreach efforts for enrollment, retention, student entrance interviews, student exit interviews, and community engagement;Coordinate the allocation of space in conjunction with school administration for student and family support services and for special events;Responds to parent concerns as appropriate.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

COMPENSATION :

$67,000 - $71,386 annually

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Community School Coordinator is required to attend professional development sessions facilitated by TFHE schools. Each training session will provide opportunities for capacity building and growth, collaborative discussions, and understanding of administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrate experience with federal programs and/or working with schools in school improvement; (Preferred)Experience coordinating and/or managing programs in an educational, non-profit, and/or human services setting;Ability to communicate and work with families;Strong written and verbal communication skills;A high degree of cultural awareness and competency in cross-cultural practice with children and families;Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and some weekends;Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills;Ability to negotiate and mediate to attain win-win situations;Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team;Understands and respects the diversity of families' economic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds and situations;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, students, families, and the public;Computer literacy to include the use of Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel, PPT), G-Suite, Canva, and Adobe Suite applications;Ability to demonstrate good judgment, tact, confidentiality, diplomacy, patience, and courtesy;Knowledge of research-based strategies that support parent, family and community engagement;Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate events that foster family and community participation;Effective time and project management skills; andAbility to maintain documentation to provide evidence of parental engagement activities at the assigned school.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including area of study in education or related field required;Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience is preferred, to include experience in community organizing, education, health or social work, and knowledge of community-based organizations.Must be comfortable with the use of data and presenting virtually or in-person to small and large groups.Bilingual: Fluency in Spanish and English.
