Your Role and Responsibilities

Position is located in Radford, VA and requires 5 days onsite

This position is for a Network Engineer focused on the implementation and sustainment of switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers and network management tools. The focus is a datacenter environment supporting two separate DoD networks. Responsibilities include network management/analysis/troubleshooting, developing and maintaining local operating procedures and policies, developing and maintaining network automation and scripts, and monitoring the ongoing operation of the network.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

This position requires a Secret Security clearance or higher (US Citizenship is required)

Required Certifications:

CompTIA Security+ or other IAT II Baseline equivalent

Computing Environment (CE) Certification Professional Level or higher (i.e., Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCNP Datacenter, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5 etc.)

5+ years of Network Engineering

5+ years of configuring and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers and network management tools

Experience with network management, analysis and troubleshooting tools

Experience with Data Center Management

Ability to train junior team members

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication abilities

Experience in implementing and maintaining security management strategies. (DISA STIGs experience preferred but not required)

Experience with development of project documentation to include standard operating procedures, project plans, and network diagrams

Strong networking background

Strong troubleshooting skills

Strong documentation skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

5+ years of switch management experience

Experience with the Cisco Nexus (7K, 5K, and 2K) line and Cisco Catalyst line

Experience with Palo Alto firewalls

Experience with Cisco ACI

Experience with F5 load balancers

Experience with Ansible and Python

Experience with network automation and scripting

Experience interfacing with cloud environment counterparts (AWS, Azure, Private)

Experience working in DevSecOps environments.

ITES-3 education/experience requirements:

Intermediate level LCAT Bachelors +5 or Associates +7

Senior level LCAT Masters +10 or Bachelors +12

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
