The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has openings for a full-time Social Worker. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays. This is a full-time position.If interested please apply at www.vbpcweb.comThe candidate selected will be responsible for the following:Provides social work and case management services for the patients.Completes biopsychosocial, spiritual assessments, discharge/aftercare planning and liaisons with community resources.Provides case management to assigned patients and provides group, family and individual counseling sessions as prescribed.Provides supervision to interns.Responsible for documentation of individual, family and group counseling sessions with final endorsement authorization.Plan, coordinate, manage and implement support packages to help clients deal with difficulties and overcome dependenciesInterview service users and assess their current condition, needs, strengths and weaknessesAddress each case as a unit and set tailored measurable goalsMonitor and evaluate clients' progress and modify treatment plans accordinglyOffer information and counseling on the best course of action during sessionsMaintain accurate records and report on clients' statusAct as a key-worker and cooperate with multidisciplinary teamsQualifications
Serves as an active member of the Clinical Services/Social Work department.Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.Assists in maintaining a safe, clean therapeutic environment.Two or more years prefered in a Social Work environment.Able to follow written and oral instructions.Working knowledge of social theories and practices.Social perceptiveness and empathy.Ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships.Ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups.Resilience along with ability to assess situations.MS degree in social work, psychology or sociology
