Software Engineer, Update Systems Validation

As a member of the Update Systems Validation team, you will design, implement and maintain frameworks and infrastructure to validate Tesla's update systems. The Update Systems team supports over the air updates (OTA), a critical component in the way Tesla operates its fleet and continues to improve the customers' experience. You will be responsible for the quality of the components within the update system by providing timely insights and performance metrics of the system via automated HIL/SIL testing and fleet metrics.

Responsibilities

Own the quality of the system updater and bootloadersDevelop scenarios, test cases, and write test code for update systems using hardware and software in the loop testing environmentsMaintain autonomous test and reporting infrastructureMaintain internal Python toolsDefine, gather, and report on performance and health metrics related to the system updaterWork cross-functionally to investigate and validate issuesCommunicate with Developers, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers to proactively identify problems and gaps in testsRequirements

Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional abilityStrong Python programmerAcute attention to detailAbility to understand, test, and troubleshoot complicated system interactionsExperience developing tests with reusable codeAbility to develop test guidelines from specificationsStrong understanding of object-oriented design and algorithmsAbility to drive problems to solutions across different groups in the companyStrong communication skillsCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

$104,000 - $348,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
