We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills for a part-time Probation/Pretrial Officer. Prince William County Criminal Justice Services is an Evidence Based Practices Agency. It is a fast paced, growing, family style organization that promotes public safety. We strive to reduce victimization, break the cycle of crime, and contribute to community restoration by incorporating the use of Evidence Based Practices to assist those under our supervision make positive changes in their lives.

Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of experience related to Criminology, Psychology, Social Services, Counseling or a closely related field.

Preferences:The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Psychology, Social Services, Counseling or a related field and 2-3 years of experience related to probation/pretrial services. Experience in the supervision of clients in the community; case management, conducting risk assessments such as the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) Virginia Pretrial Risk Assessment Instrument (VPRAI) and Offender Screening Tool (OST) and making referrals upon identified needs, working 1:1 in the creation of case plans to include follow up; customer service, group facilitation, making presentations, working with individuals involved in the Criminal Justice System; and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Special Requirements:

Some overnight travel.

Please note, positions in our Intensive Community Supervision Program (ICS), require on-call and weekend duty on a rotating basis which requires work beyond normal business hours including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. In addition, some of these positions require early court preparation and arrival as early as 4 a.m.

Work Schedule:

Three days per week (Monday-Friday) typically between 8 am and 5 pm. Schedule to be determined. Hours for the Intensive Community Supervision Program (ICS) vary depending on the position.

Starting Salary Range: $36.37 - $50.24
