Description of Duties:

The

Linux System Administrator (Evening Shift)

supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The role involves monitoring system activity, implementingupgrades, vulnerability management, and providing technical support to users. Be a part of a team of qualified, diverseindividuals working in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will:

Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems

·

Utilize and follow developer-provided documentation to build and configure server/system hardware and software to baseline specifications

·

Identifies, troubleshoots, and restores network, server, and client systems as outages occur or as needed on a daily basis

·

Researches technologies and leverages optimization techniques to ensure systems operate efficiently

·

Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs, appropriate tools/software, etc… to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions

·

Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks

·

Collaborate and communicate with internal and external team members and customers as needed

·

Performs client support administrator duties as applicable

·

Identify developer-documentation errors and provide to appropriate channels/personnel for correction.

·

Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems

·

Installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software conflicts

·

Performs application loading, system hardening to include STIG implementation, troubleshooting

·

Perform evening shift work, typically 1400-2000 but may change to meet off-hour mission activities
