Purpose/Summary

This is a grant funded position through December 2026 with possibility to transition into a full time role.

Community College of Denver is seeking individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning and work environment. CCD values the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Social and Behavioral Science department at the Community College is committed to support Colorado's statewide Behavioral Healthcare Workforce initiative (SB22-181). Specifically, CCD is supporting behavioral health-care workforce needs through training and building a talent pipeline of future workers with a variety of credentials. Under the direction of the director/department chair this position will help develop and implement a new Behavioral Health program with stackable micro-credentials and an associate's degree. The faculty position will teach and have a tremendous opportunity to develop or refine the curriculum and contribute to cultivating future employees in the behavioral health field. Individuals in this role will share in CCD's mission and exemplify principles of equity, diversity and inclusion through all work completed at the college.

This is a full-time 9-month position focused on teaching, internship support, and advising students with academic and career planning. Teaching may occur in person or online including nights and weekends and will have the option for additional summer teaching for additional pay. Faculty share a commitment to and exemplifies principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in all work done within the department and as part of the college community as well as teach courses in their field by providing a high commitment to quality instruction and student supports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching and Program Management SupportFoster a culture of academic excellence and culturally relevant pedagogy while also leading efforts oriented to closing the gap for historically underserved and excluded students.Maintain expertise in the subject area and effectively teach assigned courses; develop lesson plans, activities, and assessments that lead students to successful attainment of course competencies and outcomes.Be knowledgeable about pedagogy/andragogy, methods, retention, inclusion, and assessment of outcomes; be willing to participate in coaching/mentoring.Promote student success through inclusive, accessible, multi-modal, challenging, equity-minded, student-centered, and engaging instruction.Provide proactive and holistic support for students; this includes providing outreach, differential instruction with high expectations, and high support for students of varied preparedness.Facilitate resources for extracurricular events sponsored by the department and attend them.Participate in program development as well as statewide curriculum changes, working with the Chair/Curriculum Committee for a timely and accurate reflection in the college catalog.Exemplify and sustain a positive climate of collaboration and inclusiveness by cultivating partnerships with external and internal stakeholders.Assessment of Student Academic Achievement

Foster a positive student learning assessment culture.Embrace change in a dynamic setting.Participate in the implementation and completion of all assessment plans according to college guidelines.Create strategies aimed at improving student learning based on assessment findings and utilization of disaggregated data.Incorporate student centered practices such as including student feedback, student experiences, and/or student learning outcomes in decision-making.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: (Required/Minimum)

Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health-related profession earned from a regionally accredited institutionExperience: (Required/Minimum)

Eligible for CTE credentialing in the state of ColoradoHold an unencumbered professional license in the state of Colorado or be eligible to receive license by December 31, 20242 years full-time experience in the addiction/mental/behavioral health field within the last 5 years2 years teaching experience in an academic setting or in a social and community service outreach programFamiliarity with the Office of Behavioral Health regulationsUse of computer technology including LMS familiarity (EAB Navigate), Microsoft Office, and educational technology (D2L)Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and strategiesKnowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Required/Minimum)

CTE Credentialed in the state of ColoradoUnencumbered professional license in the state of Colorado (such as BCBA, LCISW, MSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT...)Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC/ACD)Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) approved trainer for CAS/CAT/LAC classes3 years full-time experience in the addiction/mental/behavioral health field w/in the last 5 years3 years teaching experience in an academic setting or full-time community service/outreach related training experience

Licensure/Certification: (required/minimum)

Must meet licensure requirements within 6 months of employment. Already earned certifications/licensures are a plus.

Equipment Used:

Computers (testing programs, student information system, word processing, databases, and spreadsheets), test-scoring equipment, audio-visual (tape recorder, DVD, etc.), telephone, fax, copier.

Other Considerations:

This position works in an environment that requires flexible office hours and directly serves students/clients in person. Must be able to make critical decisions and judgments on own, plan and organize tasks bringing them to completion, take initiative to learn and grow with the job, able to work some evenings and Saturdays, and to travel to off-campus sites.Supplemental Information

CCD and most employment categories contribute to , which provides retirement and other benefits to employees of more than 500 government agencies and public entities in the state of Colorado. PERA is the 21st largest public pension plan in the United States. PERA is a substitute for Social Security; CCD employees do not contribute to Social Security. PERA eligible employees are required to contribute a fixed percentage of their salary to the pension. Student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA.
