Our client located in Bronx, NY is looking for a Social Worker Substance Abuse Counselor

Summary:The Substance Abuse Counselor completes initial and annual substance abuse assessments for all clients, participates in the development of the initial service plan and its revisions, and provides individual, family and group substance abuse counseling and advocacy and referrals to community programs as needed.The Substance Abuse Counselor monitors clients' attendance at programs and provides documentation of all contacts.

Job Description:Conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments including substance abuse assessments.Collaborate with clients and staff in the development of the initial comprehensive service plans and plan revisions, including identifying mutually agreed upon long and short-term substance abuse related goals.Provide individual, and group substance abuse counseling.Advocacy and referrals to community-based substance abuse programs as needed.Documents all services provided in a timely manner as required.Participate in training, workshops, seminars and case conference as well as meetings was required.Arrange for in-patient substance abuse treatment.Educate clients and staff on harm

Job Requirements:Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or CASAC-T or LCSW with three (3) to five (5) years of substance abuse counseling experience.Experience with individuals with HIV/AIDS, chronic mental illness, and/or chemical dependence and their families a plus. Bilingual - Spanish, a plusKnowledge of and experience with substance abuse counseling.Community minded, patient, creative, flexible, compassionate, and culturally sensitive to persons who are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance abuseExtensive knowledge of community resources.Extensive knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse principals and practices.Knowledge of the HRA Desk GuideResponsible, organized, effective and efficient.Ability to work within a team and accomplish multiple assignments simultaneously.Excellent verbal, written and active listening communication skills.Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with other Client employees, Federal, State, and City officials, professional and technical groups, clients, and the general public.
