As Heinen's undergoes a transformation in its data infrastructure, we seek a Data Visualization Specialist to drive change in how data is presented and utilized across our business.

The Data Visualization Specialist will work closely with stakeholders to develop visually compelling data visualizations and reports that empower informed decision-making and enhanced competitiveness in product management, supply chain, cost analysis, and labor optimization. Moreover, this role will have the pivotal responsibility of mentoring users and fellow analysts in how to leverage Power BI effectively. This role will be part of a team responsible for reshaping the future of grocery retail through data-driven insights and strategic visualization.

What You Will Do

Works closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand data needs.Develops visually appealing and insightful Power BI dashboards to support business objectives and decision-making processes.Creates modern tools and processes to enhance and streamline existing Excel-based workflows.Creates and maintain documentation related to data sources, data models, and Power BI solutions.Optimizes performance and efficiency of Power BI reports and queries through data modeling and optimization techniques.Works with Data Architect to ensure appropriate data is available to support BI needs.Acts as a change agent, facilitating the transition from legacy processes to Power BI dashboards by coaching and training business users on effective utilization of the platform.Gathers feedback from stakeholders and end-users to continuously improve dashboard effectiveness and usability, implementing necessary changes to optimize user experience and drive business value.Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and data-driven decision-making, leveraging Power BI capabilities.Stays up to date on industry best practices and emerging trends in data visualization and business intelligence, recommending opportunities for improvement and innovation.Provides technical leadership and mentorship to fellow analysts, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning.What We Look For

Demonstrated expertise in developing business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Familiarity with other business intelligence tools and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau) is a plus.Strong understanding of DAX and semantic model design.Proficiency in Excel to comprehend and navigate existing tools effectively.Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL, Snowflake) and the ability to write basic SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.Thorough knowledge of design concepts related to chart forms, typography, and the use of color to create visually appealing and accurate representations of data that facilitate meaningful analysis.Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to understand complex datasets, identify trends, and derive actionable insights.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and conduct training sessions.Experience in driving organizational change and adoption of new technologies, with a history of successfully coaching and influencing stakeholders to embrace new processes.Bachelor's degree in a STEM field of study is preferred.
