Viasat's Platforms and Software division is modernizing our unified software stack, and you will be a key part of powering our aviation business present and future. As a member of a DevOps team you will help accelerate the adoption of Golang as your team and others refactor and optimize our system. We are always improving the availability, scalability, and operational efficiency of our services. Additional responsibilities include sustaining the legacy software stack running on 2000+ aircraft.You'll interact with Viasat colleagues involved in all parts of the Software Development Life Cycle including stakeholders, product owners, systems engineers, test engineers, customer engineers, and of course your peers.The day-to-day
This team is passionate about providing airline employees as well as the end users with the best in-flight connectivity service. In this position you will be an integral part of the Commercial Mobility DevOps organization across teams and make meaningful impacts to the in-flight connectivity service for commercial flights that take place every day. Your responsibilities will range from developing software that is able to scale across multiple commercial airline fleets to crafting new products and services to monitoring and maintaining existing services for the commercial airline passenger, flight crew, mechanics, and installers.What you'll need
5+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong Golang experience, ability to elevate team's knowledgeBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math & Computer Science, and/or a related field.Experience with programming languages/frameworks: Python, Java,Ability to work with a distributed, remote team10% travel required.What will help you on the job
Experience with networking: UDP, TCP/IP, AMQP, DHCP, DNS, and/or RESTExperience with Linux systems programming, embedded and/or applications developmentFamiliarity with modern methodologies for independently configuring, testing, and deploying microservicesExperience deploying/hosting applications in Kubernetes
Salary range
$141,300.00 - $245,800.00 / annually
