PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide intervention, consultation, and training to general education and special education personnel in meeting the educational needs of students with emotional and/or behavioral issues and social skills deficits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:Minimum Bachelor's degree in related field: Master's degree preferredValid Texas teacher's certificate in related fieldBoard Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work with school staff and parentsKnowledge of state and federal special education lawsExcellent written, communication, and consultation skillsExperience:

Three years classroom teaching experienceExperience in working with students with emotional/behavioral problemsMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Provide effective behavioral and instructional strategies for students with emotional/behavioral problems.Provide technical assistance to teachers in structuring classrooms.Provide assistance to campuses in the operation of Behavior Transition Classes.Promote the Inclusion of students with emotional/behavioral problems in the general education curriculum.Assist campuses in analyzing behavior data and monitoring student progress.Assist in developing documents designed to maintain and document student progress.Attend staffing and ARDs when appropriate to assist with the development and/or evaluation of individual education plans.Assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPS).Mentor new teachers responsible for educating students with emotional disturbance and emotional/behavioral problems.Collaborate with campus staff and other special education staff to provide on-going training for special education and general education staff in effective positive behavior supports and interventions.Coordinate and provide district/campus Crisis Prevention intervention training.Assist in the selection, ordering and appropriate use of instructional materials for Behavior Transition Classes.Provide individual and group training to parents on effective behavior interventions and positive behavior supports.Conduct in-home training assessments.Provide assistance to campuses in implementing campus wide Positive Behavior Supports.Assist, conduct, and/or provide assistance in conducting functional behavior assessments.Coordinate and monitor district and campus TBSI training.Coordinate with the district Autism Specialist and LSSP as needed.Collaborate with agencies and organization that support students with behavior/emotional problems and their families.

** The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $49. 00 will be charged for fingerprinting.
