Our client is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead the development and execution of the data engineering strategy, collaborating with senior leadership to ensure data initiatives align with business objectives. This role requires expertise in data integration, data modeling, and the implementation of Azure services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Define and drive the data engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and senior leadership objectives.
• Oversee data integration and ETL processes, ensuring efficient data flows and transformations.
• Configure and manage Azure services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Cosmos DB to build and manage data pipelines and workflows.
• Establish best practices for data modeling and indexing to achieve optimal performance and scalability.
• Implement data security measures and ensure compliance with privacy regulations and industry standards, including encryption, access controls, and monitoring.
• Optimize data solutions by addressing performance bottlenecks, fine-tuning queries, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
• Provide high-level and detailed technical design, exploring solution alternatives and ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
• Translate business requirements into technical design specifications and ensure quality integration across systems.
• Design and implement standards and best practices for data solutions, accountable for technical delivery and adherence to Enterprise Architecture.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar; or 7+ years of equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data modeling, integration, or management.
• 7+ years of experience with SQL and JavaScript.
• Extensive experience with ETL processes and SSIS.
• Proficiency in dimensional and relational modeling.
• Experience with Git and Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with data streaming and message bus technologies (e.g., Kafka, Azure Message Bus).
• Experience with Data Modeling Tools such as ER/Studio or ERWIN.
• Strong background in MongoDB and document stores.
• Proficient programming skills in .NET/C#.
• Azure DP-203 Data Engineering certification is a plus.
• Proven track record of building scalable data pipelines and frameworks for dynamic cloud environments.
• Ability to write complex queries and stored procedures.
The role is located on the northwest side of Houston. The role is hybrid 2/3.
