OrganizationYWCA Greater Los Angeles (YWCA GLA) is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. YWCA GLA provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity.

Objective of PositionTo deliver services and activities that addresses violence against women of various ethnic backgrounds and support survivors of sexual assault in their healing process. The program is implemented through activities and objectives designed by the California Office of Emergency Services ( CAL OES(. Activities and objectives are planned within the scope of the Mission of the YWCA GLA.

The YWCA GLA therapist will provide trauma-informed and survivor-centered clinical services that include assessments, individual, family and group counseling and will engage in crisis intervention services such as engaging in hotline calls and SART accompaniments which include some after-hours/weekend coverage. The therapist will also perform outreach to community and professional organizations to highlight the counseling services available within the Sexual Assault Crisis Services program.

Statement of DutiesProvides 80% of staff time in direct service activities as defined by position work planEnsures grant objectives and work plans are accomplishedProvides direct services to clients and the community along with crisis intervention services (hotline calls and SART accompaniment) that will include some after-hours/weekend coverageScreens clients through intake to determine eligibility for counseling servicesOversees, disseminates and maintains cohesiveness of client intakesProvides clinically appropriate short-term counseling services to clientsEvaluates and documents clients' progress and completes clinical records in a timely manner as set forth by Clinical SupervisorIdentifies, coordinates and provides direct counseling services and outreach efforts in the assigned service areaPerforms in the role of preceptor and provides secondary on-site clinical support to interns including attending preceptor meetingsMaintains Association, CAL OES and other grant required statistical data and program monthly reportsAssists in the evaluation of the program, to include but not limited to preparation of written reports and collection and analysis of program statisticsInterfaces with Bureau of Victim Services to coordinate client access to victim compensation fundsThis position is located at:1600 E. Salary: $30.00/hr

Qualifications

Master's level degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or related fieldMust be registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in the state of California and be in good standingMust be registered as a mental health provider with the Board of Behavioral SciencesCalifornia Certification for Sexual Assault Crisis counselor Training. Current certification required or must be obtained as a condition of continued employment1 to 2 years experience providing counseling services to victims of violence, including sexual assault/trauma and the delivery of activities that addresses the empowerment of women and survivorsExperience with issues related to violence against women and knowledge of rape trauma syndromeAbility to handle difficult decisions and use good judgement within crisis and advocacy situationsAble to use independent judgement; make professional decisions and recommendations in situations that require highly individualized planning in effectively advocating for program clientsExperience working with diverse cultures and demonstrated ability to work with people of various ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender identitiesMust adhere to the Association Principles of Conduct and the legal and ethical standards outlined for mental health providers by the Board of Behavioral SciencesComputer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
