Summary:

The delivery driver, under general supervision, performs professional work related to preparing food, supplies, textbooks, equipment, printed materials, furniture and miscellaneous items for delivery; loading and operating a truck and performing various activities including pick-up of surplus property

Essential Functions

Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and proceduresDrive designated routes to pick up and deliver all school related materialsLoad and unload truck; unload items at the appropriate destination and place the items in the area specifiedCheck condition of the delivery vehicle before starting daily runs and make minor adjustments as neededVerify accuracy of transmittal papers against materials received and/or delivered, get customer signaturesOperate a forklift, electric power lift, hand drills, hand truck and other equipment applicable to loading and delivering materials, equipment, and suppliesUnpack and assemble desks, chairs, partitions, and other office equipment or machines; may check for proper operationAssist in storing stock in proper location and in maintaining warehouse in a clean and orderly conditionDetermine most efficient procedure for loading and moving heavy equipment and furniture in a safe mannerServe as lead worker on periodic basis to oversee delivery project or activity and work independent of supervisionPerform related work as assigned or requiredEducation and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D.1 year of related experience1 year warehouse experience preferredEquivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

Valid CDL license, with a clean record is requiredPossess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportationTravel to school district buildings and professional meetingsKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Ability to determine route to follow in adverse traffic, decide what material to take when physical constraints prevail.
