Test Automation Engineer (Avionics)

As an

Avionics Test Automation Engineer , you will develop and run tests for all kinds of flight electrical devices, from individual circuit boards to entire vehicles. You will write test software, execute tests, and review data; as well as develop, build, and maintain test hardware infrastructure. You will work directly with avionics hardware engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC engineers, and others. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all the stages of spacecraft development, from initial concepts to on-orbit operations.ResponsibilitiesOwn test systems from start to finish. Determine the best way to meet requirements, specify and purchase hardware, automate your hardware, fix problems, and own the resultsTest electrical devices to ensure they’re suitable for flight. Write the necessary software, run the tests, identify problems and help fix themLearn about, design, and build dedicated test setups for specialized devices like optical, motorized, or RF devicesProvide feedback to design engineers to improve Impulse’s overall avionics ecosystemSupport launch site activities by traveling with the spacecraft and operating it during the final checkouts before launch, and reviewing data

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in any relevant engineering field2+ years of demonstrated experience testing electrical or mechanical products2+ years of demonstrated experience writing software (Python, Labview, C/C++, or any other relevant language)Demonstrated experience in automating test equipmentSelf-starter with a proactive drive to solve problemsAbility to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns

Preferred Skills and Experience2+ years of demonstrated experience working on a vehicle project of any kind (spacecraft, rocket, car, boat, plane, drone, etc.)Experience working with NI hardware (cRIO, etc.)Experience safely operating hazardous systems (high voltage, high pressure, etc)Demonstrated hands-on experience with vibe tables, thermal chambers, or other aerospace test equipmentProficiency with LinuxDemonstrated success in root cause and/or failure analysisExperience in a startup or agile development environment

Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the

as well as

access to a 401(k) retirement plan .
