Child Life Specialist

(LMSW)

will be under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and provide direct care to families of Fox Point, scattered site program. The Specialist will provide individualized assesments of the children's biological, educational, psychological and social needs. The Specialist will engage in collateral visits with health professionals, school personnel, and make necessary referrals for mental health, daycare, and summer camps. The Specialist will coordinate activities designed to meet the individual needs of children (e.g., infant stimulation, toddler training, teen programs, after school programming, parent/child interactions, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide specialized assessment of children’s biological, educational, psychological and social needs.

Engage is collateral visits with health professionals, school personnel, and is able to make necessary referrals for mental health, daycare, and summer camps.

Coordinate activities designed to meet the individual needs of children (e.g., infant stimulation, toddler training, teen programs, after school programming, parent/child interactions, etc.)

Attends staff meetings, in-serving training, case conferences, and weekly clinical meetings.

Provide crisis intervention to children and parents.

Support families in their child care efforts, both in structured and unstructured

Complete all progress notes, treatment planning, written assessments, and other required documentation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree and LMSW required.

Knowledge of substance use and mental illness as it relates to working with families.

Effective interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team; able to relate with diverse staff; customer service focus in interactions with diverse client population.

Must be able to utilize Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to write professional clinical notes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred

Beneficial for candidate to have experience working within a Supportive Housing setting.
