Position Title International Peer Mentor

Job Summary
Staffs the front desk of the Department of Global Engagement; welcomes all students and visitors to the office
Serves as an International Peer Mentor for 5+ new international students at the College of Lake County
Assists with the implementation and oversight of the international student peer mentor program for incoming international students
Plans and implements cultural activities (U.S. focused, social events and/or possible field trips each semester for international students.)
Creates social media announcements and maintains contact with current students
Manages social media accounts related to international student experience at CLC
Assists with New International Student Orientation ( NISO ) and will present at orientation
Assists with International Education Week activities and other international campus events
Responds to prospective student inquiries through email, Zoom, and international chats
Participates in airport pick up, meeting and greeting , shopping trips, etc.
Assists with the administrative functions of the Department of Global Engagement (welcoming students, making phone calls, organizing the office, etc.)
Participates in a minimum of two classroom panel presentations per semester
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualification(s)
Must be a CLC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits for the term during which they are actively employed
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience utilizing social media; strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Understanding of intercultural communication
The International Peer Mentor must also exercise good time management skills, be dependable, demonstrate the ability to work independently as needed, exercise strong work ethic and be able to plan and coordinate events and activities.
International Peer Mentors must have at least a 2.5 GPA
Able to attend training in July/December, and be available for new international student orientation (August/January).
