Our client is seeking a Network Engineer in New York, NY.

Role Description

A Network Engineer designs, implements, and maintains high-speed, low-latency network infrastructure to support complex computational tasks and large-scale data transfers. They ensure seamless connectivity between servers, storage systems, and computational nodes, optimizing network performance for intensive AI and HPC workloads. Additionally, they monitor network health, troubleshoot issues, and implement security measures to protect data and infrastructure from potential threats.

Ensure high-speed, low-latency network performance to support demanding AI and HPC applications.Develop and implement scalable network architectures to handle growing data and computational needs.Maintain network reliability and high availability by designing redundant systems and implementing robust monitoring and maintenance practices.Implement and enforce security measures to protect the network infrastructure from cyber threats and unauthorized access.Continuously monitor network performance, identify and resolve issues promptly, and optimize network configurations to prevent bottlenecks and disruptions.Facilitate seamless integration of network components with existing infrastructure and applications, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.Key Responsibilities:Develop and design high-speed, high-bandwidth network architectures tailored for AI and HPC environments.Deploy and configure network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.Continuously monitor network performance metrics, such as latency, throughput, and packet loss, and optimize network configurations to maintain high efficiency and reliability.Diagnose and resolve network issues, including hardware failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks, to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operation.Implement and manage network security measures, such as access controls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems, to protect the network from threats and unauthorized access.Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks to ensure infrastructure remains current and capable of supporting evolving requirements.Assess current and future network capacity needs, and design solutions that can scale to accommodate increased data traffic and computational demands.Other Responsibilities:Comply with applicable laws, regulations, international standards, and related Core42 Policies and Procedures.Comply with Core42 Acceptable Use Policy, attend mandatory information security, privacy, business continuity, and HSE trainings.Report information security, HSE, etc. incidents or suspect incidents through Core42 established incident reporting channels.Maintain confidentiality of information and classify and handle information as per Core42 Policies and Procedures.

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized coursework can be beneficial.Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, routing and switching, VLANs, and network protocols relevant to AI and HPC environments.5 years of hands-on experience with network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from various vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista).Familiarity with the specific networking needs and challenges associated with AI and HPC workloads, including low-latency and high-throughput requirements.Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently.Preferred Skills and Qualifications:Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or similar networking credentials.Proficiency in network security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control mechanisms.Skills in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios) to track and analyze network performance.Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell) for managing and automating network tasks.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with other teams, document network configurations, and report on network performance.
