Description

We are currently only accepting applicants who are local to the Nashville area, as this is not a fully remote position.

Exempt position, reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Actuarial & Business Analytics.

Standard working hours are Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Support the data analysis and forecasting needs of the organization using proficient knowledge of data processing software and business development strategies. Drive and support projects for the Analytics team and Assistant Vice President.

Role Responsibilities:

• Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by the business intelligence application and data warehouse.

• Support data extraction and perform detailed analysis and identify data and business rule trends needs, as needed.

• Create and maintain year-, quarter-, and month-end reports using SSRS, Power BI, Excel, or some other required delivery method.

• Create and maintain on-demand or ad-hoc reports in policy and claims management system.

• Utilizes scripting and query tools like Python, R or SQL, data visualization/ BI tools, statistical methods, and data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards.

• Maintain and continually improve tabular data models where data is staged for reporting.

• Perform training related to business intelligence applications.

• Resolve end-user problems with business intelligence applications.

• Collaborate with others to ensure Enterprise metadata is properly managed and governed.

• Assist with designing data structures that will support data-driven decision-making, as needed.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote awareness and effective use of enterprise data assets.

• Lead or support Business Intelligence projects.

• Participate in cross-functional teams and collaboration.

• Meet or exceed supervisor's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.

• Contribute to SVMIC's success by identifying opportunities and making recommendations that may lead to improved processes.

• Regular and predictable on-site attendance required.

• Ability to work remotely as business needs dictate.

• Complete special projects and other duties assigned.

• Intermediate to expert understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing processes and tools for property and casualty insurance.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft SQL, Business Intelligence tools and a variety of software programs

• Ability to efficiently manage multiple, complex projects.

• Ability to research, read, comprehend, analyze, apply and distill large amounts of information into useful tools, presentations and/or conversations.

Requirements

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field preferred with a minimum of 5 years directly related experience in development and maintenance of Business Intelligence.

Licenses/ Professional Designations:

AINS Certification from The Institutes is a plus

CDMP Associate Level Certification from DAMA is a plus

Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate from Microsoft is a plus

Power BI Data Analytics Associate from Microsoft is a plus
