Overview
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Linux System Administrator III to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. This is a System Administrator III position within the Enterprise IT Platforms and Solutions. The organization provides modern platforms for the lab's Enterprise IT: container orchestration, virtualization, Linux configuration and patch management, infrastructure as code, and Linux and Windows server systems. We design and operate technologies and processes to ensure IT systems are reliable, consistent, and secure throughout the lifecycle of the system.Responsibilities
Deploy and maintain production Linux operating systems in accordance with established IT policies and guidelines for items such as security, networks and filesystems.
Coordinate and perform installations and upgrades to layered software packages.Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.Work with Enterprise IT Configuration Management automation tools/approachesQualifications
BA/BS in IT Related field plus 2 years of IT experienceIn lieu of a degree, additional relevant experience may be applicableU.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q clearance.Experience in Unix/Linux system administrationExperience in Linux Web Cluster administrationExperience in Apache, Ngnix, haproxyExperience in Ansible for automation of provisioning and configuration of Linux servicesWorking knowledge of authentication methodologies such as Kerberos, PAM, and LDAPWorking knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, FTP, SSH, and other common Internet protocolsFamiliarity or experience with virtualized systems (such as KVM, ESX) and containersKnowledge of CLI, scripting (Bash, Python), and searching/parsing log filesExperience with solving practical problems and system analysis of the iT infrastructuresExperience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a constantly changing environmentAbility to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environmentDesired:Strong networking backgroundUser and group managementProcess managementAbout Us:Edgewater Federal Solutions is a privately held government contracting firm located in Frederick, MD.
