Position Summary

The Database Administrator (DBA) will collaborate with the Information and Technology (IT) Department to oversee the maintenance of Mary’s Center’s eClinicalWorks (eCW) database to facilitate seamless connections between the database and other data management and health analytics applications e.g. Azara, Tableau, Power BI. The DBA will serve as a subject matter expert of the eCW database and will work closely with the Data Management and Health Analytics (DMHA) team to optimize the database for accurate and more efficient reporting. In this role, the DBA will also manage complex population health, financial, and operations reporting. This position requires advanced command of SQL coding and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including creating and using complex formulas and manipulating large datasets. At least 70% of this role focuses on database management and 30% will entail data analytics and reporting.

Reportability

This position will report directly to the Manager of Quality & Outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Database Management

Manage and monitor eCW database to ensure optimal performance and availability.Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.Support and advise the Data Management and Health Analytics (DMHA) team on data management, data organization, data reporting and analysis in accordance with the configuration of the eCW database.Support and provide guidance to the DMHA team on SQL coding to ensure accurate data extraction and reporting based on the latest configuration of the eCW database.Manage the eCW Database Schema Manual and remain up-to-date on its latest version and content.Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as index rebuilding, query optimization, and database tuning.Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.Collaborate with the DMHA team, IT Department, eCW developers and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective use of database resources.In collaboration with the IT Department, develop and implement database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.Monitor and analyze database performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.Work closely with the IT Department to plan and execute eCW database migration and upgrade projects, where appropriate.Document eCW database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.Leadership and Collaboration

Provide ongoing communications e.g. alerts, updates, etc. on changes and improvements to the eCW database.Develop documents, job aids, and reports to capture updates and changes made to the eCW database.Consult with DMHA to create or modify SQL tables in the eCW database to support more efficient and accurate reporting.Work closely with the IT Department to troubleshoot issues with the eCW database.Work closely with external vendors whose applications are connected to the eCW database to ensure seamless connectivity.Serve as the Quality and Outcomes Department’s liaison to the IT Department and eCW regarding technical issues or troubleshooting of the eCW database.Attends weekly HIT/IT meetings to provide reports and receive updates about the eCW database.Data Reporting and Analytics

Build complex queries using MySQL.Build complex dashboards to inform business decision-making using Tableau and Power BI.Analyze large datasets and able to strategize methods of data collection.Present at select senior meetings on relevant data analyses, dashboards, and data projects per direction of the Quality and Outcomes Department leadership.Run routine reports by scheduled due dates.Collaborate with stakeholders to validate and analyze data to ensure accurate reporting.Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Undergraduate degree in computer science, data analytics, or similar fieldMaster’s degree in a related discipline preferred.At least 6 years’ experience working in a healthcare, public health, or research/evaluation setting as a data analyst, or at least 4 years working as a database manager or database administrator.Microsoft Azure Database Administrator certified preferred.Knowledge of database management systems required.Knowledge of normalizing SQL tables and maintaining referential integrity by using primary and freeing keys.Expertise in writing dynamic SQL store procedures, functions and views.Advanced practical knowledge of SQL and MySQL, required.Advanced knowledge of and experience with integrating SQL queries with Tableau, required.Working knowledge of Power BI and integrating SQL queries, required.Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, including creating and using complex formulas and large datasets, required.Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word and PowerPoint) is essential.Thorough understanding and working knowledge of patient/client confidentiality and HIPAA.Language Requirement –

Ability to communicate effectively in English is required.

Physical Demands –

Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment –

Mostly in a typical office or clinic setting with quiet to moderate noise level. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions. Opportunity to work a hybrid schedule – remotely & onsite, as needed. Candidate must be able to attend all in-person meetings and arrangements local to Mary’s Center.

Compensation:

$73,000-$80,000 per year.
