Position Summary
Applications Engineers (AEs) work with high technology companies, government laboratories, and research institutes around the world and provide analysis and consultation on customer requirements for high precision mechatronic systems. They develop technical solutions, proposals, and quotations; and serve as project engineers. AE Is are generally assigned to application and technology areas with less complexity and will rely on the Applications Engineering Manager to fulfill all duties.
Essential Functions
Reviews customer documentation and analyzes customer applications
Assists in dialog with customer to gain insights and understanding on customer’s process and to make determinations on motion system requirements
Makes motion component or system recommendations
Prepares proposals and cost estimates
Delivers technical presentations to customers and prospects
Performs system testing and analysis to support Aerotech’s selling process
Responsible for portraying all technical aspects of applications by creating Application Data Sheets (ADS)
Project management of the post-sales process on custom jobs
Generate technical content for white papers and application notes
Additional Duties

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of assigned technology/application area
Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Strong sense of urgency, initiative and a drive to get things done correctly
Knowledgeable in principles of advanced mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Proficiency in spreadsheet type math. Some positions may require programming skill
Ability to work with equations of motion, fundamental mechanical concepts, and servo control theory
Capable to write drafts for articles of publication
Effective communication skills; able to effectively present technical information to technical audiences.
Able to travel domestically and internationally
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technical discipline such as Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required
Up to three years of experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.
