As a member of the

Strategy & Data Analytics

team, the

Data Analyst

is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making across the organization. The strategic insights they provide will be crucial in driving business growth and efficiency.

This is a newly created position, and would be an ideal opportunity for a data professional to make their mark on the organization, and see the tangible effect of their efforts on the continued growth and prosperity of the business.

This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to our Taylor, MI or Ann Arbor, MI offices for planning meetings at least once per month.

Position responsibilities:

Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.Extract and manipulate large datasets from multiple sources using SQL and other data management tools.Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs, provide analytical support and deliver actionable insights.Utilize statistical methods and data visualization tools to interpret data and present findings.Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support various business initiatives and projects.Assist in the development and implementation of data collection systems and data management processes.Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all data sources.Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analysis.Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.May represent Johnstone Supply at trade associations, events, and local chapters.Position requirements:

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university, with preference given to a specialized degree in in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science preferred;

at least 4 years of relevant experience ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar.Experience with data visualization tools such as Phocas, Power BI, Tableau or similar.Knowledge of statistical methods and data modeling techniques.Ability to work with big data technologies and cloud platforms is preferred.Problem-solving skills: listening to, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others; diagnosing and rectifying problems.Ability to develop and use systems for organizing information.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Skill in following through on commitments.Ability to multitask and prioritize work.Ability to work efficiently and with a sense of urgency.Ability to establish and continuously improve work procedures and systems.Keeps the company's best interest in mind when considering or addressing issues.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.Ability to demonstrate considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with others and maintaining relationships.Maintains confidentiality of information.Johnstone Supply is strongly interested in hiring a great candidate that exhibits work behaviors & values that are conducive to building and maintaining a strong and effective company culture.
