As an Autonomy Camera Software Engineer, your technical skills will be applied to a variety of components within the imaging pipeline and software stack to optimize system performance and fundamentally improve image quality for computer vision. By partnering closely with hardware, computer vision, UI/UX, and system software engineers, you will be part of a cross functional, ongoing initiative of delivering the best possible view of the world for consumption by neural networks and human-facing displays. Your code will connect with cameras, image signal processors, neural networks, codecs, telemetry, and other components executing on the Tesla AI computer. Additionally, the camera software team builds tools for benchmarking, characterizing, and optimizing camera 3A and ISP configurations, and is responsible for testing and evaluation of software frameworks to ensure the system and functional stability of our stack.

Responsibilities

Write, debug and maintain robust C/C++ software for the Autopilot and our Humanoid robot software stack; you will work on code related to our high-framerate Camera & Vision stack, write GPU kernels, implement and profile system frameworks, or improve/extend codecs for video collectionArchitect, tune, and evaluate camera control and image processing algorithmsImplement algorithms that track camera and optical performance over time, connecting with service and user interfacesIterate on new features through simulation, testing, and targeted fleet data analysisDefine requirements and coordinate with relevant vehicle subsystems, manufacturing, service, and other teams to optimize optical performance and reliabilityRequirements

Practical experience programming in C/C++ software, including modern C/C++ (C++14/17/20), multithreading, and Python. Cuda/OpenCL experience a plusKnowledge of digital camera systems and related concepts, including color filters, exposure control, timing, drivers, and in-sensor HDR techniques. $104,000 - $360,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
