Network EngineerThe Network Engineers are responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining networks for both professional and managed services customers. This position involves critical duties and responsibilities that must continue to be performed during crisis situations and contingency operations, which may necessitate extended hours of work.This is a customer-focused, hands-on role, in which the Network Engineer will be expected to handle and resolve customer issues. This specific role is a resource with a solid understanding of networking and security.Technical Responsibilities:Analyze existing hardware, software and networking systemsCreate and implement scalable networks according to client specificationsConfigure and install various network devices (e.g., Layer 2/3 switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi)Test and troubleshoot installed network systemsResolve technical issues with hardware, software, and networksPerform speed and security tests on installed networksApply network security upgradesUpgrade and/or replace hardware and software systems when requiredCreate and present networking reportsTrain Network Operations Center (NOC) engineers and end users on installed networking productsOther duties as assignedRequirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking administration, information technology or similar field, or equivalent work experienceMinimum of five years experience as a network engineerDetailed knowledge of networking systemsCCNA, CCNP, or vendor-specific equivalent certificationCertifications and/or experience with next-generation firewalls, preferably Palo Alto or FortinetMicrosoft Azure network certifications/experience is a plusExperience with storage engineering, wide-area networking, and network virtualizationAdvanced troubleshooting skillsAbility to identify, deploy, and manage complex networking systemsExperience training end usersExcellent problem-solving and analysis skillsDemonstrated ability to create effective documentationMust obtain and maintain industry certifications for continued growthSkill in remaining calm and focused in pressurized situationsNetworking Requirements & Expectations:Will be available via Slack, email, and phone to provide timely answers to team members, vendors, and customersMust report to the Choice Solutions headquarters located in Overland Park, KS during the assigned shift at least three days each weekPerform after-hours duties on an on-call rotation and as-needed basisAssist the team where needed by actively working on customer issues, handling calls, assisting other team members in issue resolutions, etc.Contribute to the ongoing development of the team by sharing knowledge, experience, and expertise with other team members.Interact with the service delivery team, managed and professional services engineers, and account managers to provide our customers with the Choice ExperienceMust directly interact with various customersAbility to work within a team, both in-person and through virtual media outletsCapable of managing own workload with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlinesDetail-oriented and process-driven to see tickets through to resolution and/or escalationChoice Solutions Requirements & Expectations:Express a positive and confident, can-do attitudeDependable, adaptable, flexible, and a team playerPersonal dedication to ongoing training and developmentExcellent organizational and problem-solving skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsProfessional appearance, attitude, and communicationTimely delivery of required internal documents such as time sheets and expense reportsMaintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and agency informationAble to handle challenges and issues in a professional and supportive manner
