About the Team

The Platform Engineering team at College Board builds solutions to help reimagine and elevate our engineering practices around cloud infrastructure, architecture, networking, CI/CD, IaC, and the developer experience. We design, build and operationalize the platforms that are core to our development environment within our growing AWS ecosystem. Our team is comprised of approximately ten engineers with a unique blend of skills and experiences that foster a collaborative working environment where each individual member contributes to the success of the team. As Senior Engineer on our Platform Engineering team, you are an idea-generator, a catalyst, and a collaborator. In this role, you will:

Design & Implementation (70%)

Build solutions using the best practices of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOpsContinuously develop the skills required to work as part of the agile team in a poly-skilled development environmentApply your subject matter expertise in current technological capabilities such as cloud networking, API integrations, infrastructure resiliency, and cloud designWrite code to automate the infrastructure lifecycle, create and support internal tools utilizing IaC, and be able to use CLIsCollaborate to define transformation patterns from a vertical application with service dependencies to a cloud capabilityPartner with domain SMEs (Delivery Team Software Engineers, Security, Infrastructure, Network, Observability and Operations) to analyze the features and capabilitiesWork with technology leaders to understand business objectives and align architectures and cloud product offerings with those objectivesContribute to the development and growth of the Cloud Engineering Program, through thought leadership, design and implementation of tools and processesParticipate in the Enterprise Architecture Review process

Strategy & Communication (20%)

Implement cloud-first architectural solutions and best practicesContribute to technology strategy and planning, conducting research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommending technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibilityParticipate in agile scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Grooming, Daily SCRUM, Demo, Retro) and contribute to team deliverablesParticipate in peer reviews of software engineering artifactsAssist in the identification and resolution of production and production-like issues

Team Coordination (10%)

Mentor team members by designing and developing training materials to communicate the current and future infrastructure architectureLead technical efforts and mentor technical staff in the development and usage of technology architectures and solutions with a primary focus on DNS, Disaster Recovery and Resiliency

*About Yo *

You have:

5+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD framework, immutable infrastructure, automation, orchestration, and other modern DevOps patternsTechnical knowledge of Cloud Computing, DevOps, and MicroservicesStrong knowledge and experience with distributed cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)Experience working with AWS resources such as Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Step Functions, EC2, ECS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, DynamoDB is a plusExperience building event-driven Cloud-based serverless applicationsCoding/scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, React.js, Node.js or JavaExcellent communication and collaboration skills with an ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly languageDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain good customer working relationshipsExceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentAuthorization to work in the U.S.
