*Job Title:** *Desktop Support Technician*Duration:** *1 Year (possibility to extend/convert with good performance after the initial contract)*Worksite Address:* Portland, OR (must have a reliable car to sit in multiple plant locations around the Portland area)*Workplace Type:* On-site*Description:** *Provide technical software, hardware, and basic network problem resolution to end users by performing appropriate diagnostics and guiding users through step-by-step solutions on both a hands-on and call-back basis.*Essential Functions:*

* Diagnose and resolve problems with PCs, local printers, end-user connectivity, software and configuration, email, and other hardware and network issues.* Ensure timely resolution/referral of user problems by understanding the impact to the user and assigning an appropriate priority and resolution goal.* Clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner; provide one-on-one end-user training as needed.* Perform Active Directory user account changes and maintain the Active Directory Computer environment.* Propose and implement hardware and software upgrades to optimize systems performance while remaining within budget.* Help install local area network cabling systems and equipment such as network interface cards, switches, and VPN devices with the network team.* Manage and update an accurate IT equipment inventory.* Maintain a spare parts inventory for IT software, hardware, and network printers.* Create Purchase Requisitions and handle equipment receipt as needed.* Track software license compliance and perform annual audits to confirm licensing compliance.* Manage signoffs and software change requests in accordance with IT procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.* Maintain a clean and organized environment.* Assist the Network Administrator as needed.* Track and maintain server backups and tape rotation, working with the Server Administrator.* Perform related work as required.*Top Skills:*

* Ability to work effectively in a safety-minded industrial manufacturing environment.* Ensure the security of all company systems and data.* Understand business priorities, continuously reconsider the changing list of issues according to those priorities, and communicate that list to management.* Transition swiftly between complex priorities in a fast-paced environment.* Deliver effective technical customer support in person and over the phone.* Support and train end-users in a wide range of software applications as needed.* Read, understand, and apply complex technical information.* Master new computer technology and its local applicability.* Maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers, vendors, and the team.* Demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.*Additional Information:*

* This contract is for 12 months. As long as they are working hard, they will stay on or convert.* Drug test required.* Client is one of two Fortune 500 companies in Portland. Opportunity to move into Network, Server, or even apps teams.* Onsite role working in a manufacturing environment. They will be assigned a plant location and that is where they will sit.* Must have a car to travel between approximately 5 plant locations and will be reimbursed for miles.*Why is Position Open?*
