CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

CASA's mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working-class: Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant Communities. Our vision is rooted in the collective power of our community, our inclusive, permanent, member-led movement radically transforms communities and systems to ensure the needs, dreams, and aspirations of members are fully met as we strive for justice and full liberation at home and in solidarity with others across the world. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate but related nonprofit organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.

DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

The Elections Department oversees elections, nonpartisan voter accountability advocacy, and voter registration across our four states. The department is tasked with developing and implementing voter engagement strategies in partnership with all departments to build long-term electoral power in working-class: Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant communities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

CASA in Action seeks a proactive, well-organized communicator to lead the implementation of our direct voter engagement programs. The Voter Engagement Canvasser will work with the Voter Engagement Coordinator and Voter Engagement Manager to increase voter participation within working families and immigrant communities by sharing voter education information and mobilizing them to vote early, by mail, or on election day.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging registered voters and voting-eligible community members in utilizing their civic rights to bring about real people-powered political movements. They understand voter engagement best practices and issues working families and immigrant communities face. They have a proven ability to network and communicate information to others effectively, are committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing input or quality, and demonstrate a deep commitment to racial equity.

The Voter Engagement Canvasser, based in Montgomery County, Maryland, reports to the Maryland Voter Engagement Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Voter EngagementEngage voters daily to persuade and mobilize them to vote by/or on Election Day,Share important voting information effectively,Collect photo and video content while engaging with voters and share with Communications staff to lift the voices of impacted voters,Enter and report conversation data accurately and on time, andStay well-informed of the latest electoral news and campaign talking points, including issues impacting communities and candidate views on those issues.Team Building and Daily Reports

Participate in daily canvass launches and debriefs by sharing key findings from voter conversations with team members,Provide feedback on voter engagement best practices and scripts based on your voter interactions to help team members achieve the highest quality conversations with target voters andComplete qualitative field reports to capture voter details that benefit our campaign efforts.Additional Tasks

Arrive on time to canvass launch locations with your CASA in Action t-shirt, canvasser bag and campaign literature,Verify that all assigned canvassing equipment works properly as your work day begins,Recruit voters to participate in volunteer canvass activities and campaign events,Report all on-field emergency and non-emergency incidents that may occur to the Voter Engagement Coordinator andPerform other job-related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
