JOB DESCRIPTION:MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTANT 1022.09ARMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Currently licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Art Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist.Minimum of 5 years' experience as a qualified licensed mental health professional.Experience in areas of training and staff development.REPORTS TO:
Director of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)JOB GOAL:
To assist district staff in the development and implementation of a continuum of services for students with behavior, emotional and mental health concerns and to provide direct services to these students and their families.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Training, Technical Assistance and Consultation
Administrators/teachers
Crisis interventionLiaison between alternative sites and home schoolsInterventions, referrals, and screeningAlternatives to suspension and expulsionPlacement optionsClinical consultations/evaluationAttend appropriate staff meetingsClassroom organization and managementDevelopment of behavior plansData collection/documentation
Students
Provide direct services to students including counseling and therapy in individual and/or group settingsProvide training to students on identified topics or needs such as appropriate interaction with authority figures.Assist with transition to and from alternative sitesCrisis interventionClinical consultation/evaluation
Parents
Provide training and support services to parents in individual or group settingsAssist parents in developing strategies and skills to interface with the school system and outside agenciesCrisis interventionClinical consultation
Professional Development
Attend workshops, trainings, and other relevant meetings to stay abreast of issues, regulations, etc.Plan/Provide Professional Staff Development
Other
Shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the Director of Student Services or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Compensation will be based on 200 contract days on the board-approved Mental Health Consultant salary schedule
