Installation of new software - It is primarily the job of the DBA to install new versions of DBMS software, application software, and other software related to DBMS administration. It is important that the DBAtest this new software before it is moved into a production environment.Configuration of hardware and software with the system administrator - In many cases the system software can only be accessed by the system administrator. In this case, the DBA must work closely with the system administrator to perform software installations, and to configure hardware and software so that it functions optimally with the DBMS.Security administration - One of the main duties of the DBA is to monitor and administer DBMS security. This involves adding and removing users, administering quotas, auditing, and checking for security problems.Data analysis - The DBA will frequently be called on to analyze the data stored in the database and to make recommendations relating to the performance and efficiency of that data storage. This might relate to the more effective use of indexes, execution plans, or other DBMS specific features.Database design (preliminary) - The DBA is often involved at the preliminary database-design stages. Through the involvement of the DBA, many problems that might occur can be eliminated. The DBA knows the DBMS and system, can point out potential problems, and can help the development team with special performance considerations.Data modeling and optimization - By modeling the data, it is possible to optimize the system layout to take the most advantage of the I/O subsystem IT security - Securely configure all components of the application to conform to CIS/DISA recommended best practices.Serve as backup for DBA #1.Day-to-day administration support to maximize uptime and performance of the production system.Monitoring of database, server, web, and network performance via Quest Foglight.Backup and recovery planning, documentation, implementation and testing.Disaster recovery planning, documentation, implementation and testing.Follow IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes and procedures for change, request, and incident management using the client's instance of ServiceNow;Planning, testing and installation of Oracle and MySQL quarterly critical patch updates.Planning, testing, and installation of Oracle and MySQL code releases.Planning, testing, and installation of customize code, reports and forms.Follow the client's outage policy. Most RM updates that require an outage will need to be scheduled outside of normal work hours.Provide monthly capacity planning reports for database and application servers using stats gathered from Quest and MySQL monitoring tools. Provide administration support for the Quest monitoring products. Including the development of custom monitoring agents and alerts.Provide operational coverage when the DBA staff is unavailable.Tune long-running jobs.Setup automatic alerts of critical database/application events associated with security or availability.Monitor and enforce IT security policies. Where necessary encrypt network traffic using Oracle advanced security option.Follow client and NIST policy in the proper handling of Personally Identifying Information (PD).Resolve help desk tickets in a timely manner.Securely configure databases and web services per the Center for Internet Security (CIS) guidelines.Assist DBA security officer in the certification and accreditation of all systems associated with this task order.Provide Oracle Fusion Middleware administration support in a load balanced environment.Provide Drupal, PHP, and MySQL administration support in a load balanced environment.Perform feasibility studies and research of new products/functionality as needed.Qualifications

The DBA must have extensive knowledge of Financial Systems.The DBA must have extensive knowledge of Oracle's web application technology, Drupal, PHP, and MySQL.Experience using the latest Oracle Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and associated Oracle development and query tools; and other software support products such as performance testing software and configuration management software.Certification in the latest Oracle Application Middleware administration (e.g. Oracle Fusion Middleware).Experience in software maintenance and change control tools such as Serena's Polytron Version Control System (PVCS) and JIRA.Must have received qualification on the most current version of the ITIL Foundation level.A certificate of completion is required.Must have received basic training on Agile software delivery methodology. A certificate of completion is required.Allstaff performing in a Scrum Master role, need Scrum Master certification. A certificate of completion is required.Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experienceDemonstrated excellent customer service skills.Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and technical skills.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Must be able to complete a federal background investigation.Must be a US Citizen or have a Green Card.Additional Information
