Teslais seeking a Product Support Engineer for Vehicle Chassis Systems, focusing onbrake systems, wheels, and tires. This role is at a key connection point for product development and change implementation between our Silicon Valley Development team, US based factories, and North American Service Centers. A strong technical background in diagnosing complex electromechanical systems with heavy software content and deployed in safety-critical applications is required. You will be responsible for contributing directly to the continuous improvement of our products. This Engineer must be passionate about the product, a strong critical thinker, and capable of understanding technical system-level architecture and issues.

Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting all brake system-related components across all products in North America, including brake calipers, rotors, brake lines, electronic park brake modules, electronic brake booster, anti-lock brake / electronic stability program module, wheels/tires, and associated traction control / stability control algorithmsPerform diagnostics on field failures both remotely - looking at data logged by the vehicle - and directly in the field with onboard diagnostic toolsCreate clear problem statements for field issues and communicate top issues regularly to firmware and hardware development teams, collaborating on root cause analysis and development of countermeasuresDefine requirements for on-board diagnostic methodologies and diagnostic alerts, including consideration for third-party shops, and work with the firmware development team to implementDevelop and document troubleshooting and remote diagnosis techniques with Service Technicians, Technical Support Specialists and Regional Technical SpecialistsConduct large-scale data analyses to triage brake-system related issuesReview user experience issues and deficiencies and escalate those to development teams that can be addressed by firmware or hardware improvements and/or revised functional specificationsIdentify and propose product improvements to Hardware and Software Development teams that will increase reliability, reduce service cost, and improve customer satisfactionRequirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Technology or similar, or equivalent experience considered2+ years of experience testing, validating, diagnosing, and/or designing electromechanical systems in an automotive application; experience with automotive brake systems preferredStrong electrical and mechanical engineering fundamentalsExperience with vehicle dynamics, especially with traction/stability control, is a plusKnowledge of vehicle architecture, CAN protocol, UDS protocol is a plusProficient in python preferred; able to read or interpret C/C++ a plusExperience with data acquisition, analysis, and processing tools, such as SQL, preferredAble to read and interpret electrical schematicsAble to read and interpret mechanical drawings; experience with CAD such as CATIA is a plusCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

$72,000 - $264,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
