About the Program:

The CAAP Counseling and Pre-Vocational Services program provides brief behavioral health counseling and pre-vocational services to participants of the County Adult Assistance Program (CAAP). CAAP serves adults without dependent children, who may be coping with mental health, substance use, and/or homelessness.

Essential Job Duties

include, but are not limited to:Provide work readiness and learning needs assessment to clients, including determining psychological test battery from referral informationComplete psychological assessment reports, including providing vocational recommendations and feedback to clients, as appropriate for client's comprehension levelConduct biopsychosocial assessments (e.g. RAVEN'S, MMSE) to determine a client's suitability for work assignments, counseling or other referrals.Provide culturally sensitive, short-term (up to 4 months), mental health and substance abuse counseling to individuals and groups, along with case managementConsult and collaborate with clients, case managers, and internal/external providers to coordinate client care.Maintain timely administrative and clinical records related to client care, per standards specified by RAMS policies, clinical standards, and oversight agencies (e.g. HSA, DPH, etc.) in AVATAR and Launchpad.Provide crisis intervention as needed.Provide consultation to HSA staff concerning client care.Participate in case conferences, clinical team and staff meetings.Provide referrals to resources, both within the HSA program and other agencies within the city of San Francisco.Participate in individual & group supervision.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Required Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in psychology or other psychology field providing assessment and testing in psychological, rehabilitation, work readiness, and learning needs.Valid registration or Licensure with Board of PsychologyOne year of direct services experience in a community-based agency providing case management, vocational assessment/training, linkage to service providers, and mental health & substance abuse counseling to indigent & underserved adult clients with mental/behavioral health issues.Proficiency in conducting clinical & functional assessments of clients with both behavioral health and physical complaints.Prior experience in assessment and treatment modalities including short-term counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention.Prior experience treating clients with dual diagnoses (e.g. behavioral health/substance abuse).Knowledge of treatment & recovery models including harm reduction and motivational interviewing.Other Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with vocational rehabilitation models of practice and counseling strategies.Knowledge of San Francisco systems of care and community resources for clinical services.Experience with the AVATAR electronic health record system.
