Job Description:

Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.

This position will be responsible for two areas within the Office of Student Services.The first is overseeing the Testing Center. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:Test Administration- organizing and supervising the administration of tests and assessments, including placement exams, health program entrance exams, and academic testing for our Shared Services Distance Learning courses (SSDL).Scheduling and Coordination- Developing and maintaining test schedules, coordinating with SSDL faculty and staff to ensure all assessments are conducted efficiently.Student Support- Providing guidance and assistance to students regarding test preparation, scheduling, and any accommodations they may need. Addressing any concerns or issues that arise before, during or after testing.Compliance and Security- Ensuring that all testing procedures comply with college policies, accreditation standards, and testing agency regulations. This includes maintaining the confidentiality and security of test materials and results.Communication- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, faculty & staff, and other stakeholders important to the college. Serving as the point of contact for all testing-related inquiries, including communicating with students, faculty, and external organizations. Providing clear and timely information about testing policies and procedures.Other duties as assigned.2. The second area this position is responsible for is Student Activities. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Program Development- Planning, organizing, and executing a variety of student activities and events, such as clubs, social gatherings, cultural and recreational events, and educational workshops, ensuring that these programs align with the college's mission and meet students' interests and needs.Student Engagement- Encouraging student participation in campus activities and fostering a vibrant campus life. This includes working with student organizations, clubs, and other groups to support their activities and initiatives.Promotion and Marketing- Creating and implementing strategies to promote student activities and events. This includes assisting with designing promotional materials, utilizing social media, and coordinating with other departments for effective outreach.Advising and Support- Providing guidance and support to student organizations and leaders. Assisting with the development of a student activities board that will assist with the planning and implementation of activities and events.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:

Strong organizational and leadership skills (ability to multitask, maintain a level of organization and attention to detail and scheduling).Flexibility with prioritizing deadlines and managing expectations and/or multiple projects at the same time.Strong written communication skills and attention to detail as demonstrated by the submitted cover letter, application package, and resume.Proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365, Google Suite, Teams, and Zoom.Ability to maintain confidential information.Demonstrated excellent customer services skills.Ability to work as an individual contributor and as a member of a team environment.Minimum required qualifications:
