The Fiber Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of fiber optic networks. This role involves planning network installations, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the fiber optic infrastructure. The engineer will work closely with other network professionals, project managers, and external vendors to deliver high-quality telecommunication services.Network Design and Planning:Design and develop fiber optic network layouts and schematics.Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new network installations.Create detailed network design documents, including fiber routes, splice plans, and equipment specifications.Installation and Implementation:Oversee the installation of fiber optic cables, including underground and aerial installations.Coordinate with contractors and field technicians to ensure proper installation and adherence to industry standards.Configure and install network equipment such as switches, routers, and optical transceivers.Maintenance and Troubleshooting:Perform regular maintenance and inspections of fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance.Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including signal loss, connectivity problems, and equipment failures.Conduct fiber optic testing using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and other diagnostic tools.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of network installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.Prepare and submit detailed reports on network performance, issues, and resolutions.Update network diagrams and documentation as changes are made.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with network architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and clients to provide updates and resolve issues.Provide technical support and training to field technicians and other team members.Education:

Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic network engineering or a similar role.Certifications:

Relevant certifications such as CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certification are preferred.Skills:Strong understanding of fiber optic technology and network design principles.Proficiency in using network design software and diagnostic tools.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Working Conditions:Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.Availability to work flexible hours.May require occasional evening or weekend work to perform maintenance or resolve critical issues.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.This position may require occasional travel to project sites and client locations.Benefits:Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for professional development and growth.Supportive and collaborative work environment.Zoom Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
