JOB OVERVIEW

Job DescriptionThe Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking an Employee Assistance Program(EAP) Counselor to offer comprehensive, confidential support and crisisintervention services to Senate employees and their immediate family members,covering a wide array of emotional, behavioral, and workplace issues. The idealcandidate will provide psychological safety and trauma-informed care, beavailable during and beyond typical business hours, while maintaining theutmost confidentiality and professionalism. This internal EAP position requires effectivecommunication skills for interacting with diverse populations and the abilityto provide consultative services to management, including organizationalanalysis and the development and facilitation of workshops. We seek a dedicated, nimble professionalcommitted to maintaining high EAP standards and Senate policies.

Key Accountabilities/Essential Job DutiesProvides comprehensive confidential assessment, short term support, referral and follow-up emotional, behavioral, and coaching support services for Senate employees and their immediate family members addressing a wide variety of employee problems/crises within a diverse population. Provides psychological safety and trauma informed care in an emergency and thereafter - potentially outside of normal business hours. Interact professionally with others regarding sensitive and confidential issues with a high level of effective communication skills, judgement and integrity. Provides consultative services to managers and conducts organizational needs analysis, potentially resulting in developing and facilitating group interventions and workshops. Maintains confidentiality and security of reporting and records in accordance with established EAP standards, applicable statutes and Senate policies. Other duties as assigned.

To be employed by a Senate employing office in a paid position in the continental United States an individual must:1. Be a U.S. citizen;2. Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B);3. Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or4. Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law).
