Snohomish County Elections is looking for hard working, team oriented, dedicated people with flexible schedules to serve as Voter Registration Assistants. We need energetic, responsible, reliable people to support the administration of the upcoming November General Election.

Voter Registration Assistants accurately perform repetitive, high volume data entry, telephone and in-person customer service, register voters and assist voters, and various clerical tasks relating to voter registration and election ballots.

There are multiple opportunities, various time frames, and various work locations. Please read the job descriptions carefully, fully answer all application questions and select your first and second choice assignment.

The date range and hours of work are dependent upon volume of work. Flexibility is key as some days you may work very few hours and other days you may work very long hours. In addition, the length of the assignment can vary due to many factors. The election cycle can be unpredictable!

BASIC FUNCTION OF A VOTER REGISTRATION ASSISTANT

Accurately perform repetitive, high volume data entry, telephone and in-person customer service and various clerical tasks pertaining to voter registration and election ballots. Voter Registration Assistants work in an office environment and at Accessible Voting Sites.

Job Duties

STATEMENT OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESFollows applicable federal, state and local election laws and county elections division policies and procedures.Accesses and accurately updates the Voter Registration Database.Processes voter registration forms and online work queues correctly and efficiently.Assists in-person, phone or email customers with voter registration and election questions.Prepares materials for mailing.Processes voter file orders.Maintains appropriate audit logs and ballot security processes.Compares scanned ballot envelope signatures to voter's registration signature (if assigned).Assists in opening and closing remote Accessible Voting Sites (if assigned).Delivers election materials to remote Accessible Voting Sites (if assigned).Provides in-person assistance to voters at remote Accessible Voting Sites (if assigned).

Voter Registration Assistant4 POSITIONS AVAILABLEVoter Registration Assistants provide customer service to voters at the main county campus. Assistants accept voted ballots, register voters and provide ballots for voters.

Work location: 3000 Rockefeller Ave, Everett 98201

Required Dates:October 16th through November 27th (tentatively); Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Includes mandatory, paid training. Longer days will be required during election week.

Please note: Voter Registration Assistants typically work Monday through Friday. However, it is not uncommon to work at least one Saturday during the processing of an election.

Accessible Voting Site Assistant12 POSITIONS AVAILABLEAccessible Voting Site Assistants provide customer service to voters at one of four Accessible Voting Sites in Snohomish County. Assistants accept voted ballots, register voters and provide ballots for voters. Assistants are assigned to an Accessible Voting Site and must have reliable transportation to and from the voting site.

Accessible Voting Site Essential Duties1. Accesses the Voter Registration Database.2. Opens and closes the Accessible Voting Site daily.3. Provides assistance to Accessible Voting Site voters.4. Delivers election materials prior to opening and after closing each day (if assigned).

Phone Bank Assistant6 POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Phone Bank Assistant Essential Duties1. Answer questions from the general public about voter registration and elections from aprepared script.2. Access VoteWA; a statewide voter registration database.3. Complete data entry on voter records.4. Assist in other areas of voter registration as needed.

Required Dates:October 17th through November 8th (tentatively), Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.Includes mandatory, paid training. Longer days will be required during election week.

One (1) year of office experience to include basic computer skills and data entry. One (1) year of experience in customer service. Must be 18 years of age, a high school graduate or equivalent, and available during specific election periods. Must pass a criminal background check.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS ONLY IF ASSIGNED TO AN ACCESSIBLE VOTING SITE

If assigned to an Accessible Voting Site to provide voter registration services, you must have a valid Washington State driver's license. If using a personal vehicle, proof of current registration and insurance must be provided, be able to accommodate a passenger and transport three (3) ballot tubs that measure 15" X 27.5" X 18.5" each.

SUPERVISION

The employee in this position receives supervision from the Voter Registration Lead, other Election area leads, the Elections and Voter Registration Supervisor, and the Elections and Voter Registration Manager. The employee is responsible for the quantity and accuracy of the work produced and work is reviewed to ensure conformance with policies, procedures and election laws.

WORKING CONDITIONS

High productivity work environment. Work hours may vary and are dependent on election timelines, voter registration volume and the volume of ballots. Work hours may include weekends, holidays and extended hours per day. Work location may vary and include Accessible Voting Sites located in various parts of Snohomish County. Work requires sitting for extended periods of time, reaching, bending, and kneeling, ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds repetitively, and the use of push/pull carts and/or hand trucks.

Snohomish County Elections hires approximately 50 seasonal workers for the Primary Election. Within this pool of seasonal workers, we will select alternates and stand-by workers after paid training is completed.
