Job Title: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher Location: Montgomery, AL Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team in Montgomery, AL, for the upcoming school year. This full-time position involves working with a K-12 caseload, providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments. As the sole DHH teacher in the district, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' educational experiences and success. Job Details: Position: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher Type: Full-time Hours: 37.5 - 40 hours per week Caseload: K-12 (itinerant) Start Date: Next School Year Location: Homebase/office setting at the district office Caseload Size: Currently 24 students (potential for additional hire closer to August/September) Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education or related field required Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred Responsibilities: Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments across various grade levels Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for DHH students Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student progress Utilize specialized instructional strategies and resources to meet the unique needs of DHH students Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior Provide consultation and training to staff and parents on strategies to support DHH students Certifications: Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate with DHH endorsement required American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred Qualifications: Experience working with students with hearing impairments preferred Strong understanding of Special Education laws, regulations, and best practices Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team Patience, empathy, and dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students If you are interested in this rewarding opportunity, please apply by contacting April Jackson at April.Jackson@soliant.com or calling 470-613-7974. 4o
