Job Summary
The job of Mental Health Counselor is done as part of a comprehensive team that provides emotional, behavioral, and mental health support for students at the school sites. The Mental Health Counselor will assist in the implementation and monitoring of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavioral and social emotional interventions; support the creation and implementation of individual student behavior support plans, complete educationally related mental health services, be a member of the Morongo Unified School District Emergency Crisis Response Team; and provide direct, short term intensive behavioral and/or social emotional intervention support to identified students to promote stabilization and optimal functioning within the educational environment.
Requirements / Qualifications

Education:Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Human Development, Education, or related field requiredRegistered as Associate Social Worker, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Associate Marriage Family Therapist
Certificates and Licenses:Hold a regular license under the Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) (preferred) or registered unlicensed under Board of Behavioral Science (BBS)Current and valid crisis management prevention and response program certification or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employmentCurrent and valid CPR/First Aid certificationMust possess a valid California Driver License during the course of employment and be insurable by the District's liability insurance carrier
Experience:One (1) year of experience working with at-risk youth (group home/residential care, day treatment, wrap around programs, school-based setting, transitional programs, etc.).
Clearances:Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Check and TB Clearance upon selection.
Master's Degree is required.
Candidate may be licensed or intern/unlicensed; will affect salary range.

Intern/Unlicensed: Management Range 12 $65,704/10 monthsLicensed: Management Range 19 $77,808 - $101,272/10 months
