Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a
Windows System Administrator
in support of the IRS MIDS contract. This position will handle a variety of responsibilities including configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows operating systems. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that all servers operate at optimum levels. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to work flexible hours. On-call and after-hours support is a requirement of this position.What you will do:Applies technical knowledge to assist clients in the design and development of solutions to complex technical engineering and applications problems, network challenges, or system administration issues.
Establishes the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework.Incorporates engineering strategies for introducing new technology into the customer's infrastructure related to its business processes of collection, analysis, production, and dissemination.Performs cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functionsMaking maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components.Applies knowledge of enterprise IT or engineering needs to design improved processes, generate valid requirements, and ensures that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture.May participate in business development activities.Responsible for initial design and development of new systems or extensive systems revisions to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirementsEnsures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for agency IT architectures, and profiles of standards as they apply to the implementation and specific to the solution for the platform, integration with other systemsEnsures that the common operating environment is compliant.Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization and planning and develops appropriate corrective actionMust possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to work flexible hours.On-call and after-hours support is a requirement of this position.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Additional 4 years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degreeWindows Administration experience Including:
Windows Server (2019, 2016, or 2012r2)Active Directory infrastructure (deployment/upgrades)Group Policy administration/Windows securityPatch management tools (WSUS, SCCM, etc.)VMWare Server Virtualization
Experience in large scale Production Support Server Environment
Handling Data Center Operations with Business & Mission Critical ApplicationsHandling escalated incidents or high critical ticketsPredicting Risk/Impact and Participating in Major ChangesReporting & Performance Dashboards with Capacity PlanningVendor ManagementTechnical Transition & Documentation skillsDesign, migration and upgrading of existing infrastructure
High level understanding of risks created by vulnerabilitiesHigh level of understanding Windows server managementExperience managing and deploying Gold ImagesHigh level of experience with patching processes and proceduresKnowledge of process to rollback patches as neededExperience implementing with Hardened Baseline Configuration standards and controlsHigh level understanding of risks associated with controls like CISAble to independently troubleshoot issuesAbility to assist in audit data gatheringFamiliarity with different hardware configurations a plus. e.g. 3-tier, hyper-converged.Must be a US CitizenMust be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearanceDesired Qualifications:Proficient in Ansible automation codeCloud computing experience and knowledgeExperience with Storage Area NetworksExperience with PowerShellExperience with Service NowExperience with HPE DL class Gen10 + ServersExperience with VMWare/VMWare Cloud FoundationBenefits:At Peraton, our benefits are designed to help keep you at your best beyond the work you do with us daily.
