Description of primary duties and responsibilities:

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The purpose of the Offices of Institutional Effectiveness, Research & Planning is to support the university's mission by providing data and information to facilitate the decision-making process. This information includes studies and reports on the operations of instructional and operational/administrative areas; and also policies pertinent to academic divisions and to the success of students and the institution. The specific aim of this function is to probe deeply into the workings of the institution for evidence of weaknesses or flaws that interfere with the attainment of its purpose and to take the results of these findings and develop strategies to correct and improve on current functions. We guide and assist the University in Regional reaffirmation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges and other specialized accreditations.

The offices provide informational and statistical data to support planning, resource allocation and program evaluation to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, key administrators, and department chairs. In addition, our offices have the major responsibility for reporting University data on students, faculty/staff, and facilities to the University of North Carolina - System Office, federal, state, and other external agencies and groups.

This position is eligible for flexible work arrangements, including remote/hybrid work. Fayetteville State University employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Description of Work Continued:

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Business Intelligence Analyst works closely with customers and design teams in prioritizing data and information requirements. This position provides support in the development and support of projects and data analysis. Determines how enterprise systems and applications will provide information required to make effective business decisions; translates requirements into application output. Recommends innovative approaches to analytical investigations. Performs modeling of data sources and flows, works with data management staff to define an operational framework that will define, develop and implement policies and security frameworks to ensure precise and secure delivery of knowledge and information.

Manages software and programs for complex analytics and metrics to support the areas of data science and business intelligence. Works with functional areas to understand business requirements and liaises with other technical personal to design and build datasets needed to accomplish those business goals. Uses data mining and statistical analyses to discover new insight within datasets.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:The desired candidate will have knowledge of and experience with the following environments, languages, and tools: Ellucian Banner, enterprise reporting systems (SQL, PL/SQL or SAS), real-time system integrations, and programming languages. Have demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in working with the Student Data Mart.

Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience Argos and Power BI or other visualization software.
