Senior Database Engineer - MySQLApply OnlineLocationOverland Park, KansasResponsibilitiesContribute to building architecture and lifecycle models and strategies for on-premise and AWS MySQL environmentsInstall, configure, upgrade, and maintain/administer MySQL clustersWork with service consumers to coordinate periodic DB management operations and upgradesProvide recommendations and execute planned adjustments for optimizing performance on all MySQL database instancesManage monitoring of the MySQL footprint using Percona MonitoringManage replication administration and monitoring for the MySQL footprintAct as subject matter expert for troubleshooting and resolving MySQL service and performance issuesPerform oncall rotations, serving as MySQL SME and initial contact for other DB platformsPerform administrative tasks in the MySQL environment including but not limited to user administration, permissions, schema and instance creation, security adjustments, storage administration, backup/recovery, and service ticketsCollaborate with service consumers to optimize database design and queriesCreate basic automation scripts (bash, perl, python)Jenkins and GitHub experience is a plusAdditional responsibilities as assigned by ManagerSome travel may be requiredQualifications
Proactive and thorough communication skills with teammates, service consumers, and management are required to succeed in this role5+ years supporting, maintaining, and administering MySQL clusters in an environment of 30 or more databasesStrong experience with MySQL 5.7-8.0 and its derivativesStrong experience with redHat Linux (or derivatives)Intermediate experience scripting in bash, perl, and/or pythonMust be able to participate in on-call rotationMust have experience and be able to support operational tasks such as patching and administration that may be done outside of conventional business hoursShould have experience in a 24x7x365 enterprise environment meeting uptime SLAs of 99.99% or greater
