Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Operations Coordinator for Event Services. This full-time, hourly role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of event and building operations for campus event spaces, including the Skutt Student Center and the Mike and Josie Harper Center. Includes engaging in the planning process of events from the beginning through execution of the event. Analyzing operation reports for events; event set-up/tear-down; making last-minute event set-up alterations; discussing equipment operations; conducting routine maintenance and inventory of equipment; and ensuring proper use of equipment; organizing and flexing schedules to complete assignments according to timelines. Provide support in other departmental efforts, such as student staff supervision, departmental inventory, and dining operations.Will work varied hours/shifts.

Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the day-to-day administration of event and building operations for the Skutt Student Center and Mike and Josie Harper Center under the direction of the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services, including engaging in the planning process of events from the beginning through execution of the event.Analyzing operation reports for events; event set-up/tear-down; making last-minute event set-up alterations; discussing equipment operations; conducting routine maintenance and inventory of equipment; and ensuring proper use of equipment; organizing and flexing schedules to complete assignments according to timelines. Provide support to daily management of the facility including locking and unlocking the building; assisting with emergency response; clerical, administrative and general office duties as required.Provide day-to-day oversight to a rotating team of student employees (Building Support Team) in both the Skutt and Harper Centers, to include daily event management execution, on-going job training and student development, assessment of growth in student learning outcomes and education and enforcement of departmental and university policies. Participate in the planning and execution of area and departmental-wide student training efforts, including 1 weekend per month during the academic year.Perform one of the following efforts to support and advance the department. (1) Plan, develop, and implement departmental inventory efforts regarding event space inventory, including tables, chairs, stage units, podiums, microphones, etc. Make assessments on condition and quantity of inventory needed to support departmental event efforts. Prepare recommendations for the Assistant Director on replacement and/or purchase of new equipment. Assist with other departmental inventory efforts as needed. (2) Lead Building Support Team program, providing direct supervision for approximately 60 student employees serving as "Building Support Team" members at the Skutt and Harper Center. Responsibilities include: recruitment, hiring, training, development, evaluation, discipline, and recognition. Work collaboratively with the team members to create staffing synergies between teams as needed. (3) Assist the Assistant Director in the day-to-day support of the operational needs of Creighton Dining (Sodexo) in both residential dining and retail locations. This includes regular building-walkthroughs to identify work order/facility needs; follow-up on open work orders, and identification of operational areas of improvement.Provide basic troubleshooting audio visual support to internal and external clients and engage the Operations Coordinator- II- for more robust audio visual support needs. Assist with review of event set ups and make last minute alterations according to client's requests. Make purchase recommendations to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services regarding event resources such as tables, stages, chairs and other supplies for both the Skutt or Harper center.

Qualifications

Associates degree1 year of work-related experience requiredStrong organizational skills with attention to detail and knowledge of technology, sound systems and multimedia requiredKnowledge of event scheduling is helpfulStrong interpersonal/human relation skills and written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service skillsAbility to maintain calendars, schedules, and event filesSkilled operating computers and various software packagesAbility to work various nights and weekends is required.
