TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Summary You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the Communications Information Systems (CIS) Directorate of COMMANDER US PACIFIC FLEET. Responsibilities You will serve as the subject matter expert for military and commercial Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) for U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT). You will provide COMPACFLT theater level SATCOM planning vital for command and control of the Pacific Fleet during all phases of Maritime and Joint operations. You will represent COMPACFLT position and interest on military and commercial Wideband SATCOM issues at both the operational and tactical levels of war. You will provide military and commercial Wideband SATCOM planning support to various Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) and COMPACFLT exercises. You will coordinate with Navy, Joint, and DoD entities as needed in support of COMPACFLT operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying communications concepts, principles, and practices in planning for and coordinating communication systems upgrades and maintenance and identifying, developing, and communicating recommendations to prevent or mitigate operational impact to the organization. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
