Job Description:
We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our Hardware and Software Development Team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating hardware sensor solutions with our custom software systems, playing a key part in collecting and analyzing sensor data to drive innovative, rules-based, and machine-learning-driven analytics.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Linux environments (Debian/Ubuntu and RHEL/CentOS), proficiency in Bash/shell scripting, and experience with Java, C++, and Python. You will also have hands-on experience with Docker containers, and Git. If you enjoy developing cutting-edge sensor solutions, working with distributed systems, and collaborating on innovative hardware/software interfaces, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, Virginia. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. You'll be responsible for:Researching and developing hardware sensor solutions
for data collection.Integrating sensor solutions
with
Raspberry Pi
via
GPIO, Bluetooth, WiFi , or
physical network
connections.Developing containerized interfaces
to capture and collect sensor data from integrated hardware systems.Analyzing sensor data
to capture key metrics and identify thresholds for performance and functionality.Designing and developing analytics systems
that will be
rules-based
and
machine learning-driven .Collaborating closely
with
development teams
to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.Managing Docker containers
for sensor integration and data collection, ensuring scalability and reliability.
You'll need to have:
Ability to obtain and maintain a
DoD Secret Clearance.Bachelor's degree in
Computer Science ,
Computer Engineering , or
Electrical Engineering .Experience working with
Linux environments
(Debian/Ubuntu and RHEL/CentOS).Proficiency in
Bash/shell scripting .Experience in programming with
Java, C++, and/or Python .Hands-on experience with
Makefiles, Git , and
Docker containers .Strong
problem-solving and analytical skills .Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred (but not required):
Experience with
Rust ,
Flutter/Dart ,
Google Protobufs , and
JSON .Familiarity with
distributed networked systems
and
microservice-based architectures .Experience with
Docker API
and
security testing concepts .
