Job Description:

The Licensed Social Worker Position is a systematic position working with various disciplines within the school liaisons from community agencies. These selected professionals are trained to use effective and professional techniques to identify and remove or mitigate non-academic barriers to learning; and in collaboration with families, to strategize for and/or refer identified students for assistance to facilitate their school success. Where the problem is beyond the scope of in-school services, the team will assist the parent and student with information so they may access services within the community. A professionally trained Licensed Social Worker will provide consultation, and educational services for students and families regarding the need for referral to community and/or school-based screening and intervention services.

Provide supportive case work to children and their families, including parent education and self-advocacyProvide parent counseling and training to help them acquire the necessary skills to support the implementation of their child's specialized educational programAssist in the planning of therapeutic, remedial and behavioral modification activities provided by the educational agencyProvide direct interventions to students, including individual and group counseling, and educational and informational programsConduct formal and informal assessments of student functioning, developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior and cultural factors that may influence learningUse student, family, school and community assessment to develop appropriate interventions to improve student learningDevelop intervention plans consistent with curriculum, student needs, strengths, social and cognitive functioning, and cultural experiencesAttend all SAP meetings at predetermined locationsParticipate in team maintenance and program evaluation activities;Assist families with accessing services by providing community resource information and obtaining releases of information to share with agencies as appropriateSupport the school-based aftercare plan for students who are returning to school from treatment;Assist with crisis situations in the schools when requested;Maintain appropriate data to assist schools in completing reports as required by funding sources;Maintain confidentiality of the student and parents as required by Board Policies, District rules, and state and federal laws.

Full Time/Part Time: Full time 10 months (summers off) Schools Base position

Hours: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Requirements: Act 34, Act 114 & Act 126 & 151 Clearances/ Mandated Reported Child Abuse Training

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work Required and Licensed in Social Work Required
