Job Description

The Community Outreach Coordinator will be an integral member of the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service (IHCD) within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan - Kettering Cancer Center. IHCD works towards equity of health for minority and immigrant populations through service, outreach, education, training, and research initiatives. The COC will work directly with the Ventanilla de Salud Program at the Mexican Consulate (VDS) and the Mobile Health Unit (MHU) IHCD programs and other health fair programs implemented to provide information, education, and preventative care services to vulnerable populations. Must be proficient in Spanish (written and spoken). Candidate should have excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills, and a genuine interest in working in health disparities. Prior healthcare, community organizing, and health equity work experience is welcomed. This a full-time position.

Role overview:

* Conduct outreach at VDS, MHU and health fair sites with participants in healthcare and community settings; * Provide services directly to community members at VDS site and MHU events and offer case management. * Connect VDS, MHU and health fair participants with culturally and linguistically appropriate resources and services; * Assist in the planning, development and maintaining of outreach partnerships for the VDS program operation, crafting community outreach activities, protocols, and programs in conjunction with the program manager. * Establishes relationships with counterparts within community and religious organizations and at healthcare organizations to help expand outreach efforts for the VDS. * Under the direction of the program manager, assists in the planning of strategies for conducting community outreach and education programs to reach target population. * Establishes and maintains a network of cancer organizations, groups and individuals to help promote Service programs for the VDS and MHU programs. * Maintains a list serve of healthcare providers, community and religious leaders and others involved with the VDS and health fairs targeted community to keep them abreast of VDS programs and happenings. * Attends training programs, modules, workshops, seminars, disease-specific meetings, and meetings to keep up to data on project objectives and new policies/procedures for conducting Community Outreach / human subjects' research, when advised by supervisor. * Support the coordination of all workshops, screenings, and other events specifically for the community outreach area.

Key Qualifications & Core Skills:

* Spanish fluency required (written and spoken) * A genuine interest in working in health disparities research * Outstanding interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills * Flexible and works well independently as well as in a team meeting * Excellent administrative and computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or REDCap

Schedule : Full-time fully onsite. Some weekends included. Pay Range $25.65-$38.42
