Senior Software Engineer - Public Cloud Visibility

Bloomberg's Public Cloud Visibility team builds applications, APIs, and telemetry tools to ease adoption and help applications teams administer cloud resources at an enterprise scale in a secure manner! Our solutions are multi-cloud and are a product of close collaboration with application and security teams.

What's in it for you:

You will be part of a team that is building the foundation to support a multi-cloud environment for public cloud technologies and solutions. Through the use of modern tools and principles, you will be facilitating the expansion of Bloomberg's public cloud footprint by developing paved paths for telemetry data implementation across all multiple cloud service providers. You will get to work with open source telemetry frameworks to help facilitate a unified data stream of logs and metrics for applications. You will work closely with Business and other Engineering teams to onboard and develop in an agile environment. Your interest in cloud security will come in handy as you will get the opportunity to explore different security tooling available for cloud infrastructure. There are tons of opportunities to work across different aspects of cloud visibility within the team!

We'll trust you to:

- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their software and data needs, design solutions to ingest, and include data security in mind

- Lead automation operation, installation, and monitoring of system components in our infrastructure stack

- Produce developer and operational documentation, and diagnose and solve issues

- Build enterprise-scale systems that interact with the SDKs of multiple Cloud Service Providers.

- Provide development teams with applications and APIs to ease cloud adoption.

- Contribute to Open Source projects in the realm of Public Cloud adoption.

You’ll need to have:

- 4+ years of programming experience with an object-oriented programming language (Python or Go)

- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field of study or equivalent work experience

- Worked with Cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

- Experience working on highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems

- Experience building enterprise-scale APIs

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams, manage competing goals and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

We’d love to see:

- Experience with/in containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes

- Skilled in writing parsers/schemas for semi-structured and unstructured content

- Prior experience with OpenTelemetry data in the Public cloud

- Proficiency in provisioning and building infrastructure as code using Terraform

- Open source involvement such as a well-curated blog, accepted contribution, or community presence
