Responsibilities You will design and install systems, conduct assessments, ensure compliance through audits, harden systems, perform risk analysis, and mitigate vulnerabilities to meet sustainment requirements. You will manage complex projects and tasks, providing guidance and training to less experienced Cybersecurity Information Technology professionals. You will ensure that all acquisitions, procurements, and outsourcing efforts meet the organization's information security requirements. You will lead projects and develop cybersecurity policies to ensure compliance with established requirements. You will define and design processes for conducting a security incident investigation. You will be responsible for incident response planning and management. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintain a highly secure system through proper configuration and regular system monitoring. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide advice and assistance to customers to accomplish complex, cross-organizational goals. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Responsible for contributing, delivering, and defending project communications; and contributing to strategic, top-level program communications. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Troubleshooting security issues, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing solutions to protect systems. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or NO-04 pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Incident response management and planning expertise; leading cybersecurity initiatives, developing cybersecurity policies and standard operating procedures, overseeing information and cybersecurity for acquisition programs; conducting risk assessments, recommending solutions to secure systems. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. The pay schedule and pay band for all Professional Positions will be NO-1/2/3/4/5/6. This position is in the Science & Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Human Resource Management System pay band for Department of Defense laboratories. This position is telework eligible as determined by the agency policy.
