ResponsibilitiesProject Overview:

We are modernizing FDA cloud infrastructure with a focus on procurement, migration, and optimization using AWS. This project aims to improve cloud operations, enhance security, and automate processes for mission-critical applications.

Position Overview:

The role focuses on coordinating cloud strategies with FDA agencies, managing AWS environments, and implementing DevSecOps solutions. Responsibilities include building CI/CD pipelines, managing Linux servers, automating tasks, and ensuring system reliability and scalability in a secure cloud environment.

Coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure agencies have access to Federal acquisition tools and services pertaining to cloud procurement, migration, and optimization.

Working with agencies to gain insights into cloud options and, reviewing agency cloud strategic plans

Design, configure, manage, and monitor applications in the AWS

Design and implement DevSecOps solutions that leverage AWS and internal products/service capabilities to meet customer’s most critical requirements

Design, create and maintain CI/CD software delivery pipelines for use by large developer community base

Operate and manage Linux servers including Amazon server and storage deployments including release process, backup and restore, HA/DR

Configure, monitor and manage local area network devices/services in the AWS, including load balancer, firewalls and subnetting

Experience managing data intensive applications in a high profile, mission critical environment

Good knowledge of monitoring tools and especially around AWS Cloud monitoring

Take ownership of system problems and follow up on the status of problems on behalf of the user and communicate progress in a timely manner

Automate/script manual tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human errors

Patch and update OS, Middleware and Applications

Create and maintain documentation

Actively research and incorporate the newest innovations and principals where there is value and/or efficiencies for using these technologies

Automate and maintain systems using virtualization and containerization

Participate in creating long-term and short-term strategies for scaling the production environment.

Adhere to a comprehensive incident management program including problem management. Generate KPIs for service availability, uptime, and adherence to SOPs, and SLAs.

QualificationsBasic Qualifications:

Experience with Federal agency cloud strategy and implementation

7+ years’ experience with Linux server administration and Amazon Web Services (EC2, ECS, Fargate, S3, etc.)

Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines

Expert scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python)

Technical knowledge of monitoring and analytics tools such as AWS CloudWatch, AppDynamics

Experience with Docker, Vagrant, Ansible, Chef, Puppet

Experience with cloud orchestration tools (Kubernetes, OpenShift)

Experience with code management systems (Git, Subversion)

Experience with Databases such as Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL

Keen communication and teamwork abilities

Required Skills:

Understanding of business, technical, AWS cloud infrastructure and information architecture

Must be able to communicate, verbally and in writing, complex technical ideas to customer stakeholders

Ability to keep abreast with the evolving tools and technology

Excellent problem-solving skills

Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead and influence technical people

Educational Qualifications :

BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent

Certification:

AWS Solutions Architect is required

Agile engineering principles, Scrum agile trainings or certifications

Clearance : able to obtain FDA Public Trust clearance.

Location: Hybrid

(One day per week or as needed in the REI Sterling Office)
