HP090 Junior Programmer
We are seeking a Junior Programmer to support NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in the development of Space Physics Archive Search and Extract (SPASE) tools and pipelines for automation of operations. This is a full-time position.
Position duties:Position responsibilities will include working with, and developing an understanding of, SPASE metadata and the SPASE framework. The applicant is expected to perform general software development tasks for the SPASE group, as well as to routinely convert both CDF and FITS files into SPASE. Metadata management support is another key area. The applicant is expected to perform tasks that involve configuration services and tooling.
Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or physical sciences (or equivalent degree/diploma).
Required Experience:
Python programmingMotivated individual with a keen sense for problem solving and ability to work with little supervision and as part of a teamUS Citizenship or Permanent Residency (LPR) required, with residency in the US for the past 3 years is required.
Desired Experience:
Experience working with metadata, especially scientific metadataKnowledge of how to interact with scientific data is highly desiredFamiliarity with CDF and FITS formatsKnowledge of how to work with APIs is a plusExperience working in Heliophysics is a plus
